Intel’s Atom processor is definitely a netbook darling. In just under a year since its initial release, the Atom has quickly become the de facto standard for small, cheap, and lightweight portable computing. Indeed, the 1.6GHz Atom N270 powers 10 of the 12 netbooks in this roundup. (The sluggish, VIA C7-M-powered CTL IL1A PC is one exception, and the 1.33GHz Atom Z520 in the Sony LifeStyle PC is the other.)
